From ultraviolet to infrared—a broad spectrum of light can be put to use with quartz glass specialty lighting sources from Heraeus. UV lamps are used to purify drinking water and disinfect food packaging, or to harden printing inks. Infrared emitters are used in industrial processes to dry lacquers or shape plastics. Metal-ceramic composite materials—as well as pins, preformed parts and wires made of materials such as niobium, niobium-1% zirconium, tantalum and platinum—play an important role in lighting technology components because of their high resistance to heat and corrosion. Heraeus manufactures products for the lighting industry, such as components for halogen-metal vapor lamps and high-pressure sodium vapor lamps as well as for the backlighting of flat panel displays. And flexible substrates provide a secure mount for LED light bulbs.
